Hello Urbana --- The city that starts with "yoU":

Tune in again this Sunday to downstate Illinois' PREMIERE sports talk show from 6-8 pm when we will feature our annual local basketball preview show.

This week's guests include Urbana HS head b-ball coach Vashoune Russell, Centennial HS head b-ball coach Tim Lavin and longtime b-ball and track-n-field guru "Fast" Willie Taylor.

Coach Russell will soon begin his first season and the UHS Tiger basketball coach. He is also an assistant coach for the UHS football team and a UHS athletics hall of fame member.

Coach Lavin is head coach of the defending IHSA class AA State Champion Champaign Centennial basketball program, which returns two seniors who are division I college basketball signees.

Coach Taylor has coached football, basketball and track & field in the Urbana & Champaign high schools for many years and ALWAYS has a strong pulse on what is going on in the Chambana sports scene.

Superdome will also bring us his monthly "Superdome Ryme Time Theatre" and the Wing-T crew will be offering two tickets to the Illini-Fresno State football game on 12/5/09 for the first caller to correctly answer this week's sports trivia question.

11/15/2009 Wing-T Sports Talk Show

Urbana-Champaign:
Tune-in again from 6 to 8 pm this Sunday to downstate Illinois' best sports talk show --- The Wing-T Sports Show --- when we will have the local wrestling preview show, featuring U of I head wrestling coach Jim Heffernan and Urbana High School head wretling coach Chuck Trabaris.

As an college wrestler, Coach Heffernan was an NCAA champion for the University of Iowa. Now, after many years as Mark Johnson's assistant at the U of I, Coach 'Heff' takes over as the head coach. This Sunday, hear what he thinks this year's Illini wrestling team looks like heading into the 2009-2010 season

Also, UHS head coach Charles Trabaris will preview this year's Tiger Wrestling campaign.

Both coaches will bring some of their most promising athletes in to take part in the action this Sunday.

Also, find out what local HS football teams advanced to the IHSA state football playoff semi-final round --- and get an inside track on prediction guru --- Tanglefoot Jones'--- picks to click in this week's Sunday and monday NFL primetime games. Tanglefoot easily leads all predictors with an incredible 11-1 pick record heading into this weekend.

This Sunday, tune into WRFU-LP 104.5 for the Wing-T Sports Show, when our guests will include award-winning prep sports writer Fred Kroner and U of I Women's Track & Field Coach Tanja Buford-Baily.

Fred Kroner has covered prep sports in Central Illinois for the News-Gazette for many years. He has earned several awards for his sports journalism work.

Tanja Buford-Bailey is the current Women's Track & Field Coach at the University of Illinois. During her competitive athletic career, she competed in several national and work championships and was a member of the 1996 Olympic Track & Field Team.

Wing T Sports Show

Hello from downtown Urbana!

Please tune in to the Wing-T Sports Show this Sunday evening from 6 to 8 pm for the next airing of Central Illinois' best sports talk show.

This week's guests include 2 Urbana High School Athletics Hall-of-Fame members (Ryan Birt & Randy Blackman).

Ryan Birt was a 3-sport athlete at Urbana HS and an all-american athlete in 2-sports in college (football & wrestling). He is now the head wrestling coach at Gibson City-Melvin Sibley High School. His son Stefan is a standout fooball player and wrestler.

Randy Blackman has been the soccer coach at Urbana High school for the past 24 years and is considered one of the best soccer coaches in the state. He recently won his milestone 300th victory as the head soccer coach. The soccer program has consistently been one of the most successful athletic programs at Urbana HS during Blackman's time as the coach. Coach Blackman was a standout wrestler at Eastern Illinois University before starting his teaching and coaching career at Urbana HS. His son Adam is one of the standout players on the Urbana HS soccer team.

Like always, call-ins are welcome during the show.

Also, this week's show will debate which 1970's action figure toy would have made the best athlete.
