Wing T Sports Show

Hello from downtown Urbana!

Please tune in to the Wing-T Sports Show this Sunday evening from 6 to 8 pm for the next airing of Central Illinois' best sports talk show.

This week's guests include 2 Urbana High School Athletics Hall-of-Fame members (Ryan Birt & Randy Blackman).

Ryan Birt was a 3-sport athlete at Urbana HS and an all-american athlete in 2-sports in college (football & wrestling). He is now the head wrestling coach at Gibson City-Melvin Sibley High School. His son Stefan is a standout fooball player and wrestler.

Randy Blackman has been the soccer coach at Urbana High school for the past 24 years and is considered one of the best soccer coaches in the state. He recently won his milestone 300th victory as the head soccer coach. The soccer program has consistently been one of the most successful athletic programs at Urbana HS during Blackman's time as the coach. Coach Blackman was a standout wrestler at Eastern Illinois University before starting his teaching and coaching career at Urbana HS. His son Adam is one of the standout players on the Urbana HS soccer team.

Like always, call-ins are welcome during the show.

Also, this week's show will debate which 1970's action figure toy would have made the best athlete.

October 4, 2009 Show

This Sunday (10/4/2009), the Wing-T Sports Show guests will include Tim Morrissey, Michael "The Big Nasty" Morrissey and Rodney "Eggobelly" Eggleston.

Tim Morrissey is the owner of the Dragonz Lair Mixed Martial Arts Academy in Champaign. He holds a number of black belts in the various jui-jitsu disciplines.

Michael "Big Nasty" Morrissey, Tim's brother, is an aspiring mixed martial arts fighter. He is a former Champaign Central high School wrestler and has become well verse in jui-jitsu and kickboxing since beginning his fighting career a few years ago.

Rodney "Eggobelly" Eggleston is a former Urbana High school standout athlete. He played football and wrestled in high school and continued his football career at Northern Arkansas University after high school. He has been active in youth football and wrestling as a coach following his playing career.

October 11, 2009 Show

The October 11, 2009 show will feature hall of fame coach and official John Gremer and current Urbana Tiger 7th-8th grade football coach Bill Harmon.

John Gremer was a lineman for the U of I football team in the 1950's. He began coaching football & wrestling at UHS in 1961 and remained there until his retirement. He is a member of the UHS hall of fame for coaching and a member of the Illinois Wrestling Coaches & Officials Hall of Fame. He was recognized in 2008 as a grand marshall during the IHSA State Tournament's Parade of Finalists.

Bill Harmon is the head coach of the 7th-8th grade football team. He also helps with the UHS girls softball team and is very active with the UHS booster club.
